Welcome to Ōtautahi Studios!

We are the home for Kazami Ryu Shibari in the South Island of New Zealand, and teach primarily in this style. 

Based in Christchurch NZ, Ōtautahi Studios is owned by Sonx, who is certified to teach in the Kazami style, and is himself a student of MissEvilGen out of Brisbane, Australia.

Specializing in teaching small classes and providing quality private tuition, our aim is to offer this style of rope widely and in a professional manner, and to overall lift the quality and range of tuition available locally and throughout the region

The Kazami Ryu style is known for it's comfort in suspension (by many international models), and a high degree of engineered structure, that gives it a stability and strength that allows for drawing out the beauty of the model held within the rope. It is taught as a fully comprehensive system from basic knowledge of rope through the advanced transitional suspensions capable of challenging models and Riggers alike, and offering competent instruction that removes the guesswork found in online tutorials and similar learning paths.

With regular input and instruction from MissEvilGen, and a two yearly cycle of Kazami Ranki visiting also, we are able to offer a high degree of expertise, with ability to ask questions and receive constant support at an international level via Miss Gen, and direct to the head of the style if needed. This allows us to keep the quality of instruction, and updates on new developments, at a consistently evolving high level.
