Welcome to Ōtautahi Studios!

Welcome to the home of Kazami Ryu in the South Island of New Zealand. We are small specialist studio created for those wanting to learn and evolve in the art of Shibari, using a style that is embedded in comprehensive structures and designed to be accessible for every body in a sustainable way you can enjoy for many years to come. 

Our classes are kept small and strongly personalised so that you can get the most specific input and help possible short of booking private lessons with our instructors, though we can accomodate those who prefer this approach for a faster evolution.

Because our style of Shibari is based within a single style, and taught in a fully progressive system, once skills are gained, they continue to reappear throughout our style, from the simplest ties to the most complex multi transitional aerial based ties.

And far from being just a set of patterns or techniques, we also delve deep into core rope skills tailored for the needs of our students, and teach more about the mental spaces and how to reliably explore in those places.
